Argentinísimo is a journey across 20th century Argentina. The album is full of heady rhythms and uncommon sounds to say all the sensuality, the grace and sometimes the spark of madness of Argentinean music in the past century. It is also a frank and sensitive testimony by Argentinean musicians who, at some point of their lives, crossed the path of many of the composers gathered and celebrated here. This musical programme is rooted in these multiple and interlaced friendships from the past that matured with time. It contains some emblematic pieces by Guastavino, Ginastera, Piazzolla, Gardel and some more confidential ones by Lasala and Piana. Some poets who marked their era inspired the compositions, as Jorge Luis Borges, granting this album with a significant literary interest. Each music score offers a special climate and all of them together in an unprecedented fresco, linked by a voice that reveals many different emotions and becomes the messenger of our own solitudes. This album has become a necessity…
Ricardo de Aliaga was born in Córdoba, Argentina. He came to Europe to develop and perfect his singing. In France, he worked with the most virtuoso melodists and he acquired a technique that sublimates his interpretation of the Argentinean musical repertoire. As the ambassador of this specific repertoire in Europe, he performed the beautiful “Misa Criolla” by Ariel Ramirez live at the Olympia in Paris and its recorded version was distributed around the world and reissued on several occasions.
At the age of 13, his compatriot Gustavo Beytelmann was already playing the piano in a tango orchestra. He accompanied Piazzolla during his 2-years long European tour. For the last decades, he has been contributing to the evolution of tango by enriching it with his own compositions. More recently, he has been sharing his expertise with Gotan Project.
The violinist Cyril Garac remains at the top of his game. After obtaining the first prize at the National Conservatory of Music of Paris, he was drawn into far-off adventures playing and recording with Argentinean musicians as if he was one of them.
When studying the flute, Maria-Pia Bonanni rediscovered her Mediterranean roots and very soon, she approached widest repertoires from outside Europe, both on stage and in recording studios.
Javier Estrella comes from a dynasty of outstanding Argentinean musicians and his percussions are a constant tribute to them.
We could not dream of a more tailor-made casting to immortalise the Argentinean giants…
